Sparkasse: Change in online banking-millions of users affected

Cash with your cell phone can already be withdrawn at some machines. Now there are also changes to the savings banks in online banking: they should make it easier to use various functions-for all generations. Older customers in particular always face difficulties with online offers, as Kreiszeitung.de reports.

Beware

Sparkassen-online banking has been revised. The changes affect millions of customers. According to the Sparkasse itself, many wishes from customers were heard in the course of the optimizations.

Above all, the user-friendliness of the online offer should improve: Among other things, the online offer for the web browser and the Sparkassen app in design is adjusted, which simplifies the use. The app is also to be expanded to further increase functional and data equality. Among other things, this can affect transfer templates, but also other areas.

Sparkassen customers have to change: Online banking changes

The updates are intended to use the use more intuitively, all essential functions of the Sparkasse should be visible at a glance. The design is therefore tidy, the focus is on the usability. For this purpose, there are new, slimmer navigation and controls. There are also changes to Sparkasse for line spacing, click and touch areas, so that older customers can easily operate the functions.

Springer Professional reports that users awarded almost 80 percent reviews between good and excellent for the new online banking design. The changes have not yet been introduced everywhere, but by the end of 2022, however, the introduction is to be carried out at all savings banks.

Sparkasse Online: Millions of users affected by changes in online banking

Millions of customers are affected by the changes to the Sparkasse Online. According to Springer Professional, a study by the Barkow-Consulting consulting company has shown that 25.9 million people now use the mobile and online banking functions of the Sparkasse. Some consumers handle their transfers and transactions via the browser, others via the app. In total, there are over half of all Sparkassen customers who use the online functions.

More and more people are falling back on digital offers, but it is far from all. Especially for older customers, it remains important that certain things do not change: the possibility of lifting cash at the counter instead of lifting at the ATM is important to many-to give just one example.

Numerous bank houses are increasingly restricting this possibility, but the sparkasse should not yet face the cash from the counter. From the savings banks in Cologne, for example, it said: In all 116 branches, customers have the opportunity to withdraw money through the cash register.

savings banks with further innovations on the EC card-also negative interest rates affected

But there are other changes to the Sparkasse, including the EC card. Overall, the classic Girocard is increasingly on the siding. According to handelsblatt, the savings banks plan to combine their checking card with the MasterCard debit card.

However, the end of the Girocard has not yet come: In many authorities, pharmacies and similar institutions, only EC cards for cashless pay are still accepted. There are disadvantages, especially when using abroad and online purchases. Actually, the EC card only applies in Germany, but many credit institutions have partners to enable use abroad.

There are also changes in the area of negative interest rates: different savings banks can do the retention of the storage, at least for the time being. These include the savings banks in Mittelthüringen, Frankfurt or Hamburg. In Lower Saxony, the Sparkasse Hannover had also promised changes. The situation at the Sparkasse remains dynamic-in many areas.
